On Tuesday, the Pine Ridge Thorpes faced the White River Tigers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Pine Ridge walked away with a 69-58 victory over White River. The victory was nothing new for Pine Ridge as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Pine Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marvin Richard lll out in front who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Richard lll is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanye Hollow Horn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Pine Ridge pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for White River, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-2.
Pine Ridge will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lakota Tech at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Pine Ridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 653 points over their last nine contests. As for White River, they will face off against Canistota at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
