The Greencastle Tiger Cubs were the 64-38 winner over the Monrovia Bulldogs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The matchup between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Greencastle falling 64-49. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Greencastle lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Evelyn Briones, who scored 19 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Brown, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monrovia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mary Cox, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Grace Deaton, who scored 20 points along with two steals.
Greencastle's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Monrovia, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greencastle will challenge South Vermillion at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Vermillion comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 21 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Monrovia, they will head out on the road to take on Indianapolis Scecina Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Indianapolis Scecina Memorial is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
