If the Zeeland East Chix were riding high off their 59-31 takedown of the Forest Hills Eastern Hawks on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Zeeland East fell 67-60 to Forest Hills Northern on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (59), Zeeland East still had to take the loss.
Several Chix players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mirra Fenlon, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Fenlon scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lizzie Risdon, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Zeeland East's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Forest Hills Northern, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Zeeland East will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Union at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Union and Zeeland East are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Forest Hills Northern will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wayland at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Wayland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Forest Hills Northern is ranked 57th).
