The St. Albans Bulldogs will face off against the Maret Frogs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Albans has three straight victories, Maret has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, St. Albans was able to grind out a solid win over Episcopal, taking the game 6-1.
Jacob Romhilt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleb Kim, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Myles Upchurch, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Maret came up short against Flint Hill on Thursday, falling 15-3.
Isiah Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Maret's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for St. Albans, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Albans has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Maret struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Albans couldn't quite finish off Maret when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
