The Oakwood Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Hoopeston Cornjerkers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Oakwood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Monday.
Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 32% better than the opposition, a fact Oakwood proved. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Schlarman 54-15 on the road. The victory was just what Oakwood needed coming off of a 51-19 defeat in their prior contest.
Oakwood can attribute much of their success to Bella Bradford, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Jaydah Arrowsmith, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bradford has scored all season. Gracie Hanner was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Hoopeston took their matchup at home on Thursday with ease, bagging a 60-15 victory over Chrisman. That 45 point margin sets a new team best for Hoopeston this season.
Oakwood's victory bumped their record up to 12-19. As for Hoopeston, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.
Oakwood came up short against Hoopeston in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-44. Can Oakwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
