This season hasn't been kind to the Laughlin Cougars, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They lost to Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon on the road by a decisive 56-38 margin on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laughlin has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bradie Xaysana, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Burks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Laughlin's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Laughlin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Founders Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Founders Classical Academy is ranked 78th, while Laughlin is ranked 103rd). Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mohave Accelerated at 6:00 p.m. on December 20th. Mohave Accelerated has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
