The Bishop Neumann Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buena Vista Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena Vista took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Bishop Neumann, who comes in off a win.
Bishop Neumann posted their biggest victory yet this season last Friday. They really took it to Boys Town for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-40 victory on the road. Given Bishop Neumann's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Boys Town is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Buena Vista, who are still winless after their 11th game. They took a serious blow against Elkhorn South on Thursday, falling 72-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Buena Vista has suffered since December 8, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mogtaba Mohamed, who scored 15 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Buena Vista struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Bishop Neumann's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Buena Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Neumann against Buena Vista in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 85-37 victory. With Bishop Neumann ahead 50-19 at the half, the match was all but over already.
