Van Buren got a massive performance out of Katelyn Warner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Warner is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Payton Sonsoucie was another key player, going 1-for-3 with six RBI, one run, and one double.
Van Buren always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Twin Rivers faced Clearwater in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Royals fell just short of the Fightin' Tigers by a score of 8-6. The Royals haven't had much luck with the Fightin' Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Ivy Benson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Marlee Musgraves, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
Twin Rivers' loss dropped their record down to 8-2-1. As for Van Buren, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Van Buren has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460.
