After flying high against the Lanesboro Burros on Tuesday, the Spring Grove Lions came back down to earth. Spring Grove fell just short of Waukon by a score of 66-63. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Spring Grove in their matchups with Waukon: they've now lost six in a row.
Spring Grove's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Hammel, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Kinley Soiney, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Spring Grove's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Waukon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Grove will take on Kingsland at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Waukon, they will play host again and welcome Crestwood, where tip off is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
