Basketball Recap: Landrum's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Landrum had won two straight games and Noah Dodd did his part to make it three on Monday. The Cardinals walked away with a 62-51 victory over the Union County Yellowjackets for which the team can thank Dodd, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to five assists and three steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points.

Aj Lindsey was another key player, putting up ten points. He has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why Union County lost, don't look at Eric Gray. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-16 en route to 22 points along with six boards and five steals. That was a full 43.1% of the Yellowjackets' points, marking the third time in a row Gray has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eli Gough, who shot 58% from the field on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Landrum's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Union County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Landrum won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Blue Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Fighting Tigers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Union County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Boiling Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
