Wake Christian Academy has won eight straight games at home, while Thales Academy Rolesville has won eight straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bulldogs will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
The home team had won the previous five meetings between Wake Christian Academy and Ravenscroft, and Wake Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Ravens with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday.
Gavin Pacileo tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Collins, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Curry, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Wake Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thales Academy Rolesville got the win against Friendship Christian on Thursday by a conclusive 15-4.
Chase Davidson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Thales Academy Rolesville got a massive performance out of Cooper Nash, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Nash is becoming a predictor of the Knights' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Wil Antunez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Wake Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Thales Academy Rolesville, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wake Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thales Academy Rolesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Wake Christian Academy's way against Thales Academy Rolesville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Wake Christian Academy made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
