Mayfield is 1-9 against Duanesburg since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m.
Mayfield is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They lost 14-5 to Berne-Knox-Westerlo.
Landon Conyne was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Conyne was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Cubby Roth (C) made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Roth (C) is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Elliot Henry, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Duanesburg). They put the hurt on Galway with a sharp 19-3 victory on Wednesday. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Daniel Menzies was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Duanesburg: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Logan Kapusta also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Duanesburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
The victory made it two in a row for Duanesburg and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Mayfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mayfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Duanesburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mayfield couldn't quite finish off Duanesburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
