Lakeland Christian scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vanguard Panthers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (58), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Workman, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. Workman is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Dean, who put up ten points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Vanguard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Turral Berry led the charge by putting up 14 points along with seven assists and five boards. Berry has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Brian Glover was another key player, posting 19 points and five steals.

Lakeland Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Vanguard, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Lakeland Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-41 defeat against Zephyrhills on the 6th. As for Vanguard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-23 victory against All Saints' Academy on the 3rd.
