Softball Recap: Saline Wins Going Away Against Jackson

While Saline put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Jackson. The Hornets blew past the Vikings 16-0. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Zosia Mazur looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Ava Stripp was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Lucy Winters, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Saline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .889. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Saline and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Jackson, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saline will venture away from home to challenge Dexter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets will need to watch out since the Dreadnaughts have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Jackson, they will head out to face off against Eastern at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
