The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Wilton with a sharp 59-38 win. The result was nothing new for Kolbe-Cathedral, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Amaris Timmons, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Rachel Cherrington was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight assists.
Kolbe-Cathedral's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-3. As for Wilton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kolbe-Cathedral won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bethel at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Bethel is ranked 46th, while Kolbe-Cathedral is ranked 34th). Wilton will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Darien at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Darien is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
