The Harrisburg Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Mitchell Kernels at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Harrisburg is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Washington just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 9-2 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Brooklyn Haffey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Jayci Olson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Mitchell had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Spearfish with a sharp 12-1 victory on Saturday. The contest marked the Kernels' most dominant win of the season.
Rylee Jennings made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Jennings was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mitchell got a massive performance out of Macey Linke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Linke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Matteah Graves, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mitchell always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Mitchell's record is now 5-8. As for Harrisburg, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.
Harrisburg took their victory against Mitchell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
