Canajoharie's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cody Hyney, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Hyney has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another was Nicholas Barlow, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Cobleskill-Richmondville nor Schoharie made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Storm 10-0. Considering the Bulldogs have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brody Becker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Becker was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cobleskill-Richmondville got a massive performance out of Matt Gunzinger, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Brandon Rotman was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cobleskill-Richmondville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Schoharie only posted an OBP of .111.
Cobleskill-Richmondville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Canajoharie, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Friday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canajoharie has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Cobleskill-Richmondville struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canajoharie might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Cobleskill-Richmondville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
