Game 2 of the Women’s College World Series championship series is tonight as Red River rivals Oklahoma and Texas battle for the title in Oklahoma City. Oklahoma took down Texas 8-3 in Game 1 last night and can put the finishing touches on a fourth straight crown with a win tonight.
Of the 42 total players on the Texas and Oklahoma rosters, 19 of them played high school softball in the Lone Star State. That includes Jayda Coleman, a star for the Sooners. Five batters in the Texas starting lineup played their high school softball in-state.
Atascocita (Humble, Texas) is the only high school with two players as Kasidi Pickering plays for Oklahoma and Katie Cimusz wears burnt orange.
California is second with eight players, all of which are at Oklahoma. The Golden State unit is led by Ella Parker, who had two hits for the Sooners in Game 1 yesterday.
The Sooner State has just one player and that is Rylie Boone, who played high school softball about two hours away from Oklahoma City at
