The Lake Travis Cavaliers are taking a road trip to challenge the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dripping Springs took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Travis, who comes in off a win.
Lake Travis barely beat Del Valle the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Lake Travis was the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Del Valle on Friday. Considering the Cavaliers have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Julianna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haley Whitefield, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Lake Travis hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Dripping Springs came up short against Bowie on Friday and fell 10-6.
Lorelei Gamble made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off three home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Morgan Riley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Dripping Springs' loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Lake Travis, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 9-5-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake Travis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Dripping Springs struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
