North Schuylkill extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 7-1 in the process. Everything went their way against the Panther Valley Panthers as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Olivia Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Jordanna Frie was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyza Holmes, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
North Schuylkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Valley only posted an OBP of .143.
As for Panther Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Panther Valley's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyla McQuillen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Looking ahead, North Schuylkill will welcome Berwick at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Panther Valley, they will venture away from home to challenge Jim Thorpe at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
