After a string of eight wins, The Denby Tars''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by De La Salle Collegiate 56-6. Denby was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.
Sante Gasperoni was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 126 yards and four touchdowns on only ten passes. Damion King IV was in the mix as well, providing De La Salle Collegiate with two touchdowns.
Denby's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for De La Salle Collegiate, their win was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denby will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Southeastern at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for De La Salle Collegiate, they will square off against Cousino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cousino will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while De La Salle Collegiate is ranked ninth).
