The Homefires Flames lost to Varsity Opponent on Friday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Homefires enjoyed a cozy 33-18 victory over Varsity Opponent.
Homefires' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colin Chesnut, who scored 12 points. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Chesnut has scored at least a third of Homefires' points. Jaylan Dozier was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Homefires' win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Varsity Opponent, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 34 of their last 38 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 398-1456-2 record this season.
Homefires didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-26 victory vs. East Moline Christian on the 10th. Varsity Opponent has also already played their next contest, a 59-54 loss against Wabash Valley HomeSchool on the 10th.
