Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Peach County Trojans

Monroe is 3-0 against Peach County since December of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Monroe Golden Tornadoes will head out on the road to face off against the Peach County Trojans at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Monroe's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups.

On Monday, everything came up roses for Monroe against Cairo as the team secured a 74-34 win. Given the Golden Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while the Syrupmakers are ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monroe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lamond Seadrow led the charge by going 6 of 7 on his way to 15 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Still, who posted ten points and four steals.

Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Peach County fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They secured a 38-34 W over Bainbridge on Saturday. The 38-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Monroe has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Peach County, their record now sits at 7-13.

Everything went Monroe's way against Peach County when the teams last played back in January, as Monroe made off with a 77-52 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Monroe since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
