After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cape Henry Collegiate, Peninsula Catholic was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Catholic Crusaders get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Quinn Freakley was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Addison Dent was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gracie Simmons was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Peninsula Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.
