The Wewoka Tigers will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bethel Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Wewoka will be strutting in after a victory while Bethel will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Wewoka was able to grind out a solid victory over Prague, taking the game 48-35. Given Wewoka's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Prague is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wewoka had a senior duo take command as Awtumn Sipes-Louie scored 20 points along with five steals and Timber Carter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Carter is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cheyenne Hill, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Bethel was just a bucket shy of victory two weeks ago and fell 51-50 to North Rock Creek.
Wewoka has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Bethel, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Things could have been worse for Wewoka, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-37 loss to Bethel in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Wewoka, Parker Stevenson (who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
