The Monument Valley Cougars and the Whitehorse Raiders will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Monument Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Saturday, Monument Valley was beaten by the Pirates 72-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Monument Valley in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Monument Valley had strong showings from Melias Cly, who scored 16 points, and Braxton Goodshield, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Whitehorse's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell 66-56 to Bryce Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Whitehorse might have lost, but man, Lyric Phillips was a machine: he scored 29 points. That was a full 51.8% of Whitehorse's points, marking the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Dance, who scored 13 points.
Monument Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Whitehorse, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Monument Valley couldn't quite finish off the Raiders in their previous matchup last Friday and fell 60-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Phillips, who scored 30 points.
