Baseball Recap: Choctawhatchee Picks Up Third Straight Win at Home

After losing to Navarre the last time they met, Choctawhatchee decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Choctawhatchee Indians walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Navarre Raiders on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Aaron Rowell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Carson Appleton tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Jordan Figueroa was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Gant Folendore, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Choctawhatchee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Choctawhatchee's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Navarre, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Coincidentally, Choctawhatchee and Navarre will both be playing Fort Walton Beach the next time they take the field. Choctawhatchee will head out to face Fort Walton Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Navarre will host them at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
