The Aspen Skiers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Battle Mountain, posting a 70-29 victory at home. Winning may never get old, but Aspen sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Aspen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edgar Garcia led the charge by scoring 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. Josh Ford was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals.
Aspen pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Battle Mountain, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aspen will face off against Moffat County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moffat County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Aspen is ranked 38th). As for Battle Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Durango at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
