Granada extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-7. They lost 14-6 to the Springfield Longhorns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Longhorns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-2 on Tuesday.
Granada saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Pizarro, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Sierra Esquibel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for Springfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-6. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
On Springfield's side, Kaydon Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Evans a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Hudson Gourley and Gunner Mackey did most of the damage at the plate: Gourley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Mackey went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Gourley has posted since back in April of 2025. Carter Barnes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Granada will welcome Las Animas at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Bobcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Springfield, they will take on Wiley at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
