Alcovy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Mundy's Mill Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Alcovy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
Alcovy put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season. They claimed a resounding 73-18 victory over Forest Park at home. The win was just what Alcovy needed coming off of a 73-22 loss in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Janae Hutcherson, who scored 19 points along with eight steals and seven assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Banks, who scored 20 points.
Meanwhile, Mundy's Mill had to suffer through a rough 58-24 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, Mundy's Mill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 84th).
Alcovy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Mundy's Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Alcovy strolled past the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 53-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alcovy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
