Softball Recap: Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Extends Winning Streak to Three

Chula Vista Learning Community Charter waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Mountain Empire Redhawks as they made off with a 17-6 victory. This was payback for the Cobras, who suffered a 22-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Monserrat Rodriguez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Chula Vista Learning Community Charter let Giuliana Ramos and Lourdes Borbolla run wild. Ramos went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Borbolla went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Ramos has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Alana Olivas, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Chula Vista Learning Community Charter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Chula Vista Learning Community Charter's win bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Mountain Empire, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chula Vista Learning Community Charter will host Liberty Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cobras' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Mountain Empire, they will challenge Bayfront Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
