After a string of five wins, the Gibsonburg Golden Bears's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calvert. While losing is never fun, Gibsonburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 506th, while Calvert is ranked 193rd).
When it comes to explaining why Gibsonburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zach Mcgough. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Aiden Morant was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Gibsonburg's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5. As for Calvert, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibsonburg will face off against Hopewell-Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell-Loudon will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Calvert, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
