The Cordova Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Non Varsity Opponent 53-49. Cordova was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Non Varsity Opponent apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.
Cordova's loss came despite strong showings from Vincent Nothstine and Chiko Jacob. Nothstine dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, while Jacob scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Fry, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Cordova's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 0-3. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 93-198-1 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cordova won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Nenana at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Nenana comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
