After two games on the road, Cotulla is heading back home. They will take on the Dilley Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Cotulla pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by Crystal City 100-57. Cotulla has struggled against Crystal City recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Dilley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-42 walloping at the hands of Natalia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Dilley has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Despite their loss, Dilley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Dorian Aranda, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Aranda hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Gonzales, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Cotulla has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Cotulla came up short against Dilley when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 67-57. Thankfully for Cotulla, Jorge Herrada (who scored 26 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
