The New Washington Mustangs lost against the Orleans Bulldogs back in November of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. New Washington lost to Orleans at home by a decisive 65-47 margin. While losing is never fun, New Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Orleans is ranked 66th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Orleans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Callie Alston, who scored 15 points. Mylie Knight was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
New Washington bumped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Orleans, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Washington has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Paoli at 7:30 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Paoli focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday. Orleans will finish 2023 at home by hosting Rock Creek Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rock Creek Academy will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
