The Conestoga Cougars entered their tilt with the Lincoln Northwest Falcons with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Conestoga had just enough and edged the Falcons out 59-56. Given Conestoga's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Falcons are ranked 219th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conestoga was led to victory by Zachariah Smith and Owen Trofholz. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, while Trofholz almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Simones, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Conestoga's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-2. As for Lincoln Northwest, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.
Conestoga will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Falcon at 7:30 p.m. As for Lincoln Northwest, they will head out on the road to face off against the Huskies on Tuesday.
