The Enfield Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Ellington Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Enfield will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Everything went Enfield's way against East Catholic as they made off with a 17-3 victory. Enfield hasn't had any issues with East Catholic recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Payten Stebbins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paige Cekala, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Bouffard, who went 1-for-4 with five RBI and three runs.
Enfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Catholic only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Ellington put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They never let South Windsor get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory.
South Windsor's batters probably weren't too happy with Camryn Fisher, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up zero walks).
At the plate, Tyla Gambacorta was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Havener, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Ellington's win was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Enfield, their record is now 12-3.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Enfield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .450. However, it's not like Ellington struggles in that department as they've averaged .477. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Enfield came up short against Ellington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 5-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
