The Voorheesville Blackbirds will head out on the road to square off against the Lansingburgh Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Monday just wasn't the day for Voorheesville's offense. They fell just short of Albany Academy for Girls by a score of 2-0 on Monday. The Blackbirds haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Abby Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Voorheesville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Sokolowski, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lansingburgh). They blew past La Salle Institute 17-8 on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Guiliana Patregnani was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits. She also put up six walks, which were her first of the season. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lansingburgh got a massive performance out of Anna Patregnani, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Patregnani has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Moran, who scored three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.
Lansingburgh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Voorheesville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lansingburgh, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Everything went Voorheesville's way against Lansingburgh when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Voorheesville made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackbirds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
