The Horizon Huskies will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Canyon View Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Horizon can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They put the hurt on American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North with a sharp 51-27 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Horizon who now have four in a row.
Jase Ashley had a dynamite game for Horizon, rushing for 82 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 87 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Bodie Zamorano was another key contributor, rushing for 106 yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Horizon's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Evan Enwia and Jack Metzler who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Canyon View beat Sunrise Mountain 37-31 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Canyon View.
Beau Devens was his usual excellent self, throwing for 420 yards and five touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Santino Varvel, who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Horizon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Canyon View, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.
We should be in store for an exciting game Thursday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Horizon has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 374 total yards per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been even better at 427.2 per game.
