The Covenant Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Dallas Christian Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Covenant has struggled recently with 23 defeats in a row, while the Chargers will arrive with nine straight victories.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Covenant, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 33-18 loss to the Trojans.
Meanwhile, Dallas Christian can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat All Saints Episcopal 50-21 on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Dallas Christian had established a 20 point advantage.
Dallas Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackie Schlegel led the charge by scoring 17 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Macie Perkins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Covenant dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Dallas Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Covenant took a serious blow against the Chargers in their previous matchup back in January, falling 65-11. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Covenant was down 33-7.
