Baseball Recap: Highland Baptist Christian Takes a Loss

If Highland Baptist Christian was riding high fresh off their 16-1 takedown of West St. Mary last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Highland Baptist Christian Bears fell just short of the St. Martinville Tigers by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in March of 2019.

Tate Begnaud made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Highland Baptist Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 4-6. As for St. Martinville, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Baptist Christian will welcome Hanson Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Martinville, they will host Berchmans Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
