Having just played yesterday, the St. Mary's Knights will get right back to it and host the Apollo Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Thursday.
St. Mary's had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Marcos de Niza 64-19 on the road. The win was just what St. Mary's needed coming off of a 64-42 defeat in their prior contest.
St. Mary's found their leader in underclassman Alondra Reyes, who scored 23 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Reyes has scored at least a third of St. Mary's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Sierras, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Apollo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 54-39 bruising from Kellis. Apollo has struggled against Kellis recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
St. Mary's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Apollo, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.
