The Roy Royals waltzed into their match Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Weber by a score of 76-67. 76 seems to be a good number for Roy as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Roy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bronson Belnap led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Belnap has scored at least 25% of Roy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dahlen Pontius, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Roy pushed their record up to 5-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Weber, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.
Roy will stay at home for another game and welcome Viewmont at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Viewmont has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests. As for Weber, they will head out on the road to face off against Logan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Logan is ranked 13th, while Weber is ranked 22nd).
