Maize South put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Newton on the road to the tune of 62-30. Given Maize South's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Newton is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Andover Central beat Salina Central 52-43 on Tuesday.
It was another big night for Jayden Brown, who scored 22 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Adler, who scored 15 points.
Maize South pushed their record up to 15-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Andover Central, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Maize South strolled past Andover Central when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 75-60. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Brown, who scored 25 points along with three steals.
