On Friday, the St. James Academy Thunder faced the Wamego Red Raiders in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. James Academy blew past Wamego 73-51. The win was nothing new for St. James Academy as they're now sitting on six straight.
Reese Messer was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Becker, who scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals.
St. James Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Wamego, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-1.
St. James Academy on the road again on Thursday and play against Olathe Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Olathe Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while St. James Academy is ranked 23rd). As for Wamego, they will be playing at home against Rock Creek on Friday.
