The Regents Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Regents sitting on ten straight wins and Liberty Christian on 13.
With a playoff game on the line, Regents rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed by the Eagles on the road to the tune of 34-7. Considering Regents has won 11 matches by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Regents' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hudson Powell led the charge by picking up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Powell's longest reception was for an incredible 97 yards. Another player making a difference was Quinn Murphy, who threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Regents' defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Wyatt Blazek and his three sacks.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat All S 45-17 on the road. Given Liberty Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while All S is ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cole Welliver continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 297 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per attempt. Jaylon Hawkins was in the mix as well, providing Liberty Christian with two touchdowns.
Regents pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points per game. As for Liberty Christian, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Regents and Liberty Christian have no problem gaining yardage. Regents has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 386.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 360.6 per game.
