The Chavez Titans fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 66-47 victory over Wasco on Wednesday. That's another feather in the cap for Chavez, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why Wasco lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rudy Ballardo. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jonatan Cruz Perez was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Chavez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-12 record this season. As for Wasco, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Chavez will head out on the road to face off against Taft at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Taft knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Chavez likes a good challenge. As for Wasco, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Delano at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Delano's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
