The Hoosick Falls Panthers will face off against the Mechanicville Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hoosick Falls' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Mechanicville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hoosick Falls made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Greenwich, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Panthers fell just short of the Witches by a score of 8-6 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered since May 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mechanicville). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Hoosic Valley a 20-0 shutout on Friday. With that win, the Red Raiders brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Paige Rogers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley LaPierre was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Pane, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mechanicville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Mechanicville back to even at 6-6. As for Hoosick Falls, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.
Hoosick Falls took their win against Mechanicville in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
