The Barrington Fillies/Broncos will head out to take on the Prospect Knights at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Barrington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Prospect's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, Barrington came up short against Fremd and fell 5-1. The Fillies/Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Barrington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peter Ensign, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Prospect, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over Elk Grove on Wednesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Prospect also got a great performance from Ryan Foley as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave Foley a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Ken Munao was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Aiden Nelson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Prospect was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elk Grove only posted a batting average of .125.
Prospect's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Barrington, their loss dropped their record down to 16-7-1.
Barrington skirted past Prospect 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Fillies/Broncos repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
