The Riverton Hawks waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Williamsville by a score of 58-45. For Riverton, this counts as revenge for the 55-33 loss Williamsville walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Williamsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Kohler, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds. Kohler has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Brayden Saling was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Riverton is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Williamsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverton will face off against Auburn at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Auburn has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Williamsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Illini Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Illini Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 435th, while Williamsville is ranked 162nd).
